To come to Alderney, you will need some form of picture ID. Your passport, national ID card or driving licence are acceptable.
You can telephone, email us or book online. All bookings require a 20% deposit. Bookings for Alderney week require a 50% deposit.
There is on-street parking close to the hotel but we do not have a car park.
Hire cars are available on Alderney but as it's such a small island, mostly everything is in walking distance. A great way to get around and see the whole island is hiring an electric bike or local taxis are very reasonable.
Check in is from 3pm. If you arrive on the island prior to check in time, we will happily store your luggage for you and endeavour to get your room ready as soon as possible.
Check out before 11am is appreciated unless late check out has been arranged with reception.
Complimentary WIFI is available throughout The Blonde Hedgehog.
In our bathrooms, we supply hand and body wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner. In our bedrooms, you will find a hairdryer, hair straighteners, tablet and a radio. We have Nespresso machines in the rooms and tea making facilities.
A delicious contiental breakfast including a choice from our cooked a la carte menu is included.
The Blonde Hedgehog restaurant is the heart of the hotel and serves sumptuous farm-to-table dishes and delicious homely desserts made from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The restaurant is open from 8am for breakfast, noon for lunch and 6pm for supper.
Our Bar Menu is available until 8pm. Tea, coffee and pastries are available all day. As the restaurant is very popular, we do advise booking a table for lunch and supper.
We can cater for any diet but as we are on an island and need to order ahead, please let us know your requirements prior to arrival.
Our restaurant, snug and lower terrace is fully wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, our rooms are not suitable for wheelchair users.
Reception is open from 7am until 9pm. There is a duty manager on call overnight should you require assistance.
We allow dogs in The Old Corner House, Clarence House and La Frette but not in The Blonde Hedgehog rooms. Service dogs are accepted in any rooms.
Both the hotel public rooms and ALL of the bedrooms are non-smoking.
Please give us a call and we can rearrange or cancel your reservation. Any reservation/s cancelled within 48 hours of the arrival date is liable to be charged for unless we are able to re-let the accommodation to another guest.
Fog and mist can be problematic for travel to and from Alderney. Travel Insurance Policies usually cover inclement weather but do check when purchasing your policy. We always advise that you have travel insurance to cover you in the event of cancellation or should you be unable to travel.
Any UK resident seeking medical treatment whilst on Alderney will be charged. All visitors are advised to take out full travel insurance to cover the cost of any medical treatment that they may require and repatriation costs. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is not valid in Alderney.
There is very little formality on Alderney and for most of your stay jeans, jumpers, shorts and t-shirts are just perfect for day wear. Smart casual dress is acceptable in all restaurants in the evening.
The island has a micro-climate all of its own, so we do suggest packing a light waterproof jacket in summer. Don’t forget your sunscreen! It’s very rare in winter for the temperature to become frosty but it can be very windy, so a hat and scarf are always handy.
