Being an island, Alderney is blessed with an abundance of fresh seafood. The Blonde Hedgehog’s sea-to-table approach showcases the best of what the surrounding waters have to offer. Fish and shellfish are caught daily by local fishermen, ensuring
that the seafood is as fresh as it can be. From succulent lobster to delicate sea bass, the seafood dishes are a testament to the richness of Alderney’s marine life.

Farm To Table

Alderney’s fertile soil and temperate climate make it an ideal location for farming, and The Blonde Hedgehog takes full advantage of this. The restaurant partners with local producers to procure the freshest produce, dairy, and meat. Seasonal vegetables are picked at the peak of ripeness, ensuring that every dish bursts with flavour. The menus change with the seasons, reflecting the natural rhythms of the island’s  agriculture.

One of the highlights of the farm-to-table experience at The Blonde Hedgehog is our relationship with the local farmers. This close connection allows head chef Stephen to source, beef, pork reared in the natural, free-range environment of Alderney. Using local meats from these sustainable farming practices not only leads to more environmentally friendly production methods but plays an essential role in supporting the local economy contributing to the island’s economic stability. The result is a dining experience that is as diverse as it is delicious.

As Head Chef at The Blonde Hedgehog, I’m passionate about creating an immersive dining experience that allows guests to escape the stresses of everyday life and embark on a sensory journey of taste, aroma, and texture, where each dish is thoughtfully crafted to complement our great wines and your even better company, with the goal of ensuring every diner leaves with a smile of satisfaction.

I am deeply committed to using local ingredients wherever possible, supporting our community, and embracing the unique flavours of Alderney. My love of Asian influences can be seen often in my menu’s, as I enjoy blending bold, vibrant flavours with fresh, local ingredients. I’m constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the kitchen, experimenting with foods and techniques while maintaining a commitment to cooking everything from scratch.
